Climbs to Cycle in Cape Town & Around

Cape Town is famous for it's landmarks Table Mountain and Signal Hill, which you can climb by bike as well. Chapman's Peak and Suikerbossie are known from the Cape Town Cycle Tour. Chapman's Peak Drive: Chappies

Chapmans Peak Drive (also known as “Chappies” ) is one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world. Chapman's Peak can be climbed from Hout Bay or Noordhoek.

The Glen

Cycling up The Glen means serious climbing in central Cape Town. It takes you from Camps Bay / Clifton to Kloof Nek, on the flanks of Lion's Head.

Signal Hill

Cycling Signal Hill is a great experience, because of the beautiful 360 degree view over Cape Town from the top, and the views en route as well. Signal Hill road is the only way to climb Lion's Head by roadbike.

Suikerbossie Pass

Suikerbossie is a pass connecting Cape Town and Llandudno with Hout Bay. It's the infamous final climb of the Cape Town Cycling Tour. But every day many cyclists pass here, since it's on the way to Chapman's Peak.

Table Mountain

Table Mountain Road lets you cycle up Table Mountain, but if you're going by roadbike, only halfway to the top. It starts from Kloof Nek, but for some more climbing you can start from the Atlantic Coast and combine it with The Glen.
