Cape Town Cycle Tour 2020

logo Cape Town Cycle Tour Bike Ride The Cape Town Cycle Tour (formerly know as Cape Argus Tour) is the biggest road cycling event on the South African calendar and the World’s Largest Timed Cycle Race. The bike ride was the first event outside Europe to be included in the UCI's Golden Bike Series. More than 35 000 people from around the globe join Cape Town Cycle Tour each year on the second Sunday of March. For 2020 its date is will be 8 March 2020.

The Cycle Tour starts and finishes in the shadow of Table Mountain, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. For the 2020 edition, the start of the Cape Town Cycle Tour will be on the Grand Parade, in front of the Cape Town Castle. This new start sees riders head past the Cape Town Castle for the first time in 35 years. The finish is next to the Cape Town Stadium in Green Point.

Route Cape Town Cycle Tour 2020

The route of the 2020 Cape Town Cycle Tour is 109 km long with 1692 meters of elevation. As usual, the race follows the scenic circular route from Cape Town down the Cape Peninsula and back. After the start it follows a short section of the N2 called Nelson Mandela Boulevard, then the M3 to Muizenberg, and then Main Road along the False Bay coast to Simon's Town and Smitswinkel Bay. The route then crosses the peninsula in a westerly direction, past the entrance to Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park. It then heads north along the Atlantic coast through Scarborough, Kommetjie, Noordhoek, Chapmans Peak, Hout Bay over Suikerbossie hill to Camps Bay and the finish.
