Chapmans Peak

Length: 57 km
Elevation: 740 m
Cycling to Chapman's Peak (Chappies) and back, you'll ride one of the most beautiful bike routes of your life. No wonder it's by far the most popular route among Cape Town's road cyclists and tourists alike. You'll enjoy the stunning views of the ocean and the mountains, the sea breeze and the winding roads, the challenging climbs and the fast downhills.

Head south along the Atlantic Seaboard, climb Suikerbossie and descend to Hout Bay. That's where the world famous Chapman's Peak Drive starts: one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world. Turn at the lookout point and ride back more or less the same route, this time climbing the steeper side of Suikerbossie.

Start: the gps-track you can download on this page starts and ends at V&A Waterfront, but you can also start from one of the many parkings along the route.
